    Fishing

Since moving to Scarborough in 2000 Andrew became interested in documenting the Town’s declining Fishing Industry. In August 2004 he began renting an empty baiting shed on the harbour’s West Pier, converting it into a studio.
During this time Andrew has witnessed Scarborough’s Fishing fleet decline drastically in number. Whilst at first the Fishermen were wary of him - thinking he was checking their quotas when sketching them unloading their catch - they are now used to him drawing and he regularly sketches them working whilst out at sea.

    People

Andrew has always drawn people, either in sketchbooks or longer portrait sittings.
A portrait can take several hours, so they tend to be of friends and family.
