In January 2009 Andrew was one of six artists selected for the Art Connections 'Inspired by Heritage' Residency programme, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Chrysalis Arts, The Mercer Gallery and Ryedale District Council.
The residency ran until December 2009, allowing Andrew the chance to observe and record the effects of the changing seasons on this beautiful landscape.
Rosedale has a rich history as a centre of Iron Ore Mining in the 19th Century and this Industry has left its mark upon the landscape, with the remains of kilns and railway terraces high on the moor. Andrew produced documentary drawings of these remains.

Derelict places have always held a fascination for Andrew, you can sit and draw undisturbed.
Whilst studying Art in Liverpool this attraction continued with subject matter such as derelict warehouses, burned-out churches and disused railway lines.
In 1997 he returned to Liverpool in order to document the plight of the Dockers who had been sacked for refusing to cross an unofficial picket line.
